Switzerland has a long and fascinating postal history, which includes the development of an airmail service. The story begins with the campaign for aviation – Flugspende – of 1913, unique in the worldwide history of airmail services. Among the activities of the Flugspende were a series of Flugtage or aviation days. They were held in several towns and cities around the country. Their objectives were to raise consciousness about the capabilities of aviation, as well as to raise money. See the stamps, pilots, planes, and postal history of the Flugtage.
