In this two-part recording, revenue stamps expert, Ronald Lesher, shows examples and provides context for stamps that demonstrate federal and state government attempts to protect the public welfare and promote the agriculture industry through utilization of taxes and tax stamps.

Part 1 - Discusses how federal and state taxes were used on such products as:  oleomargerine, lard-substitute, process butter, filled cheese, mixed fur, exported pork, meat inspection, and carcass tags.  (Video duration:  28 minutes)

Part 2 - Shares stamps from the 20th century that were used to promote agriculture while encouraging farers to bring quality produce to market.  Revenue stamps are shown from the following products:  apples, potatoes, Florida citrus, melons, tomatoes, cauliflower, rhubarb, cucumbers, eggs, and more.  (Video duration:  18 minutes)
