Course Description:

There are almost 200 varieties of the Washington-Franklin definitive series.

Investigate the different designs, perforations, printing methods and watermarks of the 1908-1922 series of U.S. definitives known as the Washington-Franklins. Learn to identify the different varieties found in this interesting and challenging series.

  • A Chronology of the series
  • The correct tools need when identifying
  • Steps for Identification - Denomination & Color
  • Steps for Identification - Design

Session 2  (1 hour and 19 minute video)

  • Steps for identifying stamps of the W/F series
     - Perforations
     - Printing - flat plate, rotary press, offset, coil waste, sheet waste, Shanghai overprints

Session 3  (1 hour and 11 minute video)

  • Identifying Types - 9 types of the 2-cent stamps and 4 types of the 3-cent stamps
